How to Get from Vietnam Airport to City Center/Downtown and Pay What Locals Pay!
Are you planning a trip to Vietnam but don't know how to get from the Airport to the City Center? No Worries! I'll tell you the 4 easiest options. Let's jump right into it!
1. Airport Shuttle Bus
This is something new for Vietnam. We didn't use to have shuttle buses, but now we do! The bus is yellow, so it is very easy for you to find when you get out from the airport. But be careful, because not every yellow bus goes to the city center. Find a bus that has "City Center" or "Trung Tam Thanh Pho" (City center in Vietnamese)
Price: 20,000VND-40,000VND/Pax
2. Grab Taxi
I'm not telling you to grab a random taxi! "Grab" is a taxi app in Vietnam just like Uber or Lyft in America! So download this app and your transportation problem is solved during your stay in Vietnam. It tells you the price in advanced (after you set your pick up point and destination), so no worries about any taxi scams!
Also, it is approximately 30-40% cheaper than normal taxis! Take it guys! this is an amazing deal!
However, just like Uber, they sometimes have high demand, so sometimes normal taxis can be cheaper than Grab. Take whatever it is cheaper!
Price: Approx ~80,000VND/For one 4 seats Grab taxi
3. Taxi
Yes I'm telling you to grab a taxi here, but don't grab any taxis that are on the street. There are uncountable taxi brands in Vietnam, but ONLY TWO brands are reliable among locals - VINASUN and MAILINH!
Don't get confused with other taxis, because their names are pretty much the same (eg. one alphabet letter difference) and they look super similar as well.
Another thing to be careful is that find a new one if the taxi driver is giving you the price in advanced (after you told them your destination). This price is 99.9% higher than what it usually appears on the meter. They should be using the price that appears on their METER!
