What you MUST Eat in Vietnam!
Hello Everyone! Welcome to my page!
Are you wondering what to eat during your stay in Vietnam? Let me tell you all the good stuff that you should try!
You all know "Pho" is the most famous traditional dish, and it is too obvious if I include it here. So I won't include in my list today! But you should try it when you are here in Vietnam.
1. Bun Bo Hue
Bun Bo Hue is Vietnamese traditional noodles just like Pho, but cooked with beef and thicker noodles. It has a strong lemongrass flavor and it is red and looks spicy, but it isn't unless you put chili in. This is a dish that originated from an area called "Hue," which is located in central Vietnam.
2. Banh Beo
Another dish that came from Hue, the central Vietnam! Banh Beo is something like a cake, with toppings on. The cake is usually made from rice flour and tapioca flour and toppings include pork, dried shrimp, dried onion etc. People dip the cake in the cooked fish sauce. This is one of the most famous street food in Vietnam!
3. Banh Xeo
Banh Xeo is another type of Vietnamese traditional Pancake. It is super crispy, filled with toppings, and authentic. It is made with rice flour and the toppings include pork, bean sprout, shrimp, and beans. People usually wrap the pancake into vegetables and dip it into the fish sauce, just like how Koreans eat Korean BBQ!
4. Com Tam
When you order Com Tam, your reaction might be "This is just rice with meat." Yes, it is, but it is different. The way they cook the rice, marinate the meat and make the sauce are all special. The rice is broken(?)(I don't know how to describe its texture), it's not sticky at all. The meat tastes like authentic barbecue. We pour a bit of fish sauce into the rice and eat it with meat.
5. Banh Canh
Banh Canh is another type of noodles, but the noodles are very special! The noodles are thick and they are made of rice and tapioca flour. The soup is made from pork bone, pork, and crab. When I first tried this, it reminded me of Japanese Udon!
How are my recommendations? I chose the food that you can barely find outside of Vietnam!
